2026
How many letters did Annette von Droste-Hülshoff write? What relationships did she have? And what does that tell us about her? The artist Philine Rinnert brings part of Droste’s network to life for us.
Banners hang from the ceiling. They list all the letters Droste wrote. For each letter, the list includes the location, the date, the recipient, and the recipient’s whereabouts.
Excerpts from the letters are displayed on the glass panels. The letters cast shadows. They are present and yet elusive at the same time. In this way, the installation subtly plays on how private and intimate the correspondence is.
